Colorado is carrying out an aggressive plan to grow the state’s bioscience industry into one of the country’s premier bioscience clusters. CBSA currently enjoys the support of more than 350 member organizations representing both bioscience companies and companies providing key services to the bioscience industry and research institutions in Colorado. The Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA) brought more than 35 industry CEOs together today to dialogue with Senator Michael Bennet and U.S. FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. At Senator Bennet's request, CBSA designed today's session to share the bioscience industry's specific and unique needs in bringing innovative drugs and devices to market under current, often constraining, market conditions. - August 22, 2011

Colorado Bioscience Association Commends Governor John Hickenlooper's Signing of The Innovation Reinvestment Act Senate Bill 47, Bolstering Fuds for the State's Bioscience Discovery Evaluation Grant Program Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper signed The Innovation Reinvestment Act, Senate Bill 47, into law at ceremonies held May 26th at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Initiated by the Colorado BioScience Association and Colorado Cleantech Industry Association, Senate Bill 47 provides up to $2 million annually to each industry, creating new companies and stimulating job growth based on promising discoveries made at the state’s major research institutions. - May 27, 2011

Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA) announces Steve Orndorff, President & CEO of Ariel pharmaceuticals, as the new chairperson of the board of directors. Colorado's Bioscience Discovery Evaluation Grant Program Creates 598 New Jobs in the State, with Payroll Exceeding $44 millionThe Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA) and The Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) have jointly released results of the Bioscience Discovery Evaluation Grant Program (BDEGP) at the CBSA's Third Annual "Bioscience Day at the Capitol" event. The BDEGP was created by the Colorado General Assembly in 2006 to grow the bioscience industry in the state. - February 02, 2011

2010:
According to the Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA), Colorado’s bioscience industry received more than $23 million for 102 different projects in the Qualifying Therapeutic Discovery Project (QTDP) program, per data posted online Monday by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), in conjunction with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Colorado ranks in the top ten of states applying for credits and grants under the new program. - November 06, 2010
The Colorado BioScience Association along with over 650 partners are opposed to three ballot measures facing Colorado this election – Amendment 60, Amendment 61 and Proposition 101. These three measures - also known as the 'ugly three' - are referred to as tax breaks, but will have a devastating impact on Colorado and the companies located in the state for years to come. - October 27, 2010

About Steve Orndorff, PhD, CBSA Board Chair

Dr. Orndorff, a serial entrepreneur with 30 years experience in the biotechnology industry, leads Ariel Pharmaceuticals, a startup specialty pharmaceutical company focused on orphan diseases and acute medical conditions of neurological origin. He is also the former founder, President and CEO of Accera, Inc. and President and CEO of Univera Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a drug discovery company focused on diseases of inflammation and the immune response. During his career, Dr. Orndorff has had responsibility in a broad array of disciplines such as basic research, manufacturing, product development and business development at various biotechnology companies including Genex Corporation, NutraSweet, Inc. and ZeaGen, Inc. He is a past President of the Society for Industrial Microbiology and a founding board member of the CBSA. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Virginia Tech and a Ph.D. in microbiology from University of Maryland.
